Therefore on that day he named him Jerubbaal, that is to say, ``Let Baal contend against him," because he had torn down his altar.

32And he calls him, on that day, Jerubba‘al, saying, “The Ba‘al pleads against him, because he has broken down his altar.”
32From then on Gideon was called Jerub-baal, which means “Let Baal defend himself,” because he broke down Baal’s altar.
